Long Description: EPIC4 is a new direction in ircII development. No longer is EPIC 100% backwards compatible with ircII, but instead those things where compatibility is undesirable have been found and fixed. No gratuitous incompatibilities have been added, but lots of new code has been added to make EPIC the best ircII client available.

If you haven't already installed Darwin Ports, you can find easy instructions for doing so at the main Darwin Ports page.
Once Darwin Ports has been installed, in a terminal window and while online, type the following and hit return:

%  cd /opt/local/bin/portslocation/dports/epic4
%  sudo port install epic4

You will then be prompted for your root password, which you should enter. You may have to wait for a few minutes while the software is retrieved from the network and installed for you. Y ou should see something that looks similar to:

--->  Fetching epic4
--->  Verifying checksum for epic4
--->  Extracting epic4
--->  Configuring epic4
--->  Building epic4 with target all

--->  Staging epic4 into destroot

--->  Installing epic4

- Make sure that you do not close the terminal window while Darwin Ports is working. Once the software has been installed, you can find further information about using epic4 with these commands:

%  man epic4
%  apropos epic4
%  which epic4
%  locate epic4
